Main Duties - Engineering laboratory test work on a wide range of electrical products to safety standards such as EN60950-1, EN60335-1, EN61010-1, EN60065 and EN60204-1.
- Products tested range from small transformers for computers to metal grinding machines for the motor industry.
- Site test activity is also conducted and some knowledge of the Machinery Directive, although not essential, would be of use.
- There is a high degree of client contact and the role includes dealing with client enquiries and preparing quotations.
Skills Required - Experience of testing to at least one of the following standards: EN60950-1, EN60335-1,EN61010-1 and EN60065.
- An enquiring and practical approach to the work.
- Logical laboratory record keeping and good personal organisation.
- The ability to analyse and understand complex technical documentation.
- An ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A current, clean driving license is also required.
- Must be able to work in a team or on own.
- Occasional off-site or overseas work required.
Level of Qualification The ideal candidate will be educated to degree/HND in electrical or electronic engineering (or equivalent) Experience The successful candidate will have a background in electrical safety testing. The recruitment process will involve an exploration of the candidate’s understanding of protection concepts and standards and the detail of the application of those concepts. Working knowledge of: - An interest and knowledge of Internet related technologies

Primary purpose of the position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an EMC Test Engineer to work on secondment in our offices in Japan. The position involves complete project management from enquiry to in-situ testing and preparation of test reports. Full training will be given in addition to a competitive salary package including accommodation.
Level of qualification
The ideal candidate will be qualified to HNC or higher in a relevant discipline and/or will possess 3 years relevant experience.
Main duties
- To represent the interests of TRL Compliance in Japan and act as a first line response to deal with enquiries as they arise.
- To make sales visits in relation to CE approvals.
- Produce sales visit reports, produce quotations, deal with questions and follow up quotes as appropriate. This will be achieved through the exploitation of CRM and Microsoft Word.
- To schedule, test and produce associated report ready for approval for all Japanese test programs
- Work with and in close relationship with local agent staff and customers
- Take responsibility for the planning and execution of instrument calibrations and repair as necessary.
- To perform testing to procedures laid down in the procedures manual
- To familiarise themselves with test equipment functions, measurement and calibration techniques
- To maintain a technical logbook
- To record results of tests on the prescribed result sheets, to plot graphical results
- To deal with client enquiries regarding work schedules and costing
- To ensure that commercial confidentiality is maintained
- To carry out any other reasonable duty as directed by the Product Manager or Divisional Director.
